The Arthritis Foundation a not-for-profit organization that supports the more than 100 types of arthritis and related conditions. The foundation helps people take control of arthritis by providing public health education; pursuing public policy and legislation; and conducting evidence-based programs to improve the quality of life for those living with arthritis. Wisconsin Arthritis Foundation
To address the burden of arthritis, curb expansion of major risk factors, and reduce disabilities from the various types of arthritis, the Wisconsin DHS, Division of Public Health’s Arthritis Program partners with Milwaukee Area Health Education Center and the Arthritis Foundation-Wisconsin Chapter, and with numerous, other community organizations. The Arthritis Action Plan focus areas are: data collection, surveillance, and evaluation; promoting increased access to interventions; supporting policies to address arthritis; and working in collaboration with other chronic disease programs. Information includes evidence-based practice guidelines, programs in WI, videos, publications, and web resources.
Wisconsin Arthritis Program
The Wisconsin Arthritis Program uses a state public health approach to reach persons with arthritis by: Promoting and assisting persons with arthritis to participate in self care programs; Assisting communities with a community health communication campaigns; Describing Wisconsin’s burden of arthritis with accurate information; Coordinating and expanding arthritis-related activities with the Wisconsin Arthritis Action Council.
